Perfection and Complexity
Spoken in English. Their words, as they said them.
I think this is one of the reasons I love the Cynefin framework. The Cynefin framework allows us to understand what are the spaces where perfection's a good idea. Health and safety. You know? Pilot checklists. Pre operation theater preparation. You know, there are these places where the quest for for perfection is absolutely life saving and vital. But the people who engage in those quests then can overgeneralize to this thing. Because in those cases, dialing up imperfection is dangerous, right? It can be deadly.
But in their human relationships, in the in the messy complexity of newness, entanglement, humanity, when you have things where you're trying to dial up perfection in that in that place, you're so often wasting energy or, putting off a decision until you find the perfect answer.
So there in the complex space when you dial down perfection, you dial up innovation, creativity, possibility, interrelatedness.
One of the things I love about complexity is we're all too stupid to handle it. And we're all too small, too partial. I love this about adult development. I love this about I love this about this place, this land. It's too big. And the problems we face are too big. We can't tackle them. Nobody can tackle them alone. And so the, there's a way that dialing down this sense of individual perfection, dials up the possibility of our collective.
Inquiry, effort, experimentation, innovation, play, art making.
That's that's great to find a challenge we can't handle alone.
Daunting and great.
